Place Shaping
The Southampton City Vision consultation has now closed. We will share results in the coming weeks and there will be further opportunity to give us your views later in the year.
Southampton City Council are committed to delivering distinctive buildings of a high quality design and public spaces that people want to spend time in. The place shaping element of the City Vision is critical to linking the other themes together and setting out our plans for creating spaces/environments that work for residents and businesses both practically and aesthetically.
Public art is a great way to improve the quality of a place and add distinctiveness and interest for users. We currently require public art to be included in significant development proposals within the city for these reasons but would love to know what type of public art you would like to see around Southampton. You can tell us by posting on the ideas board below. (e.g. sculpture, green art, graffiti, interactive installations, water features, wall art)
New buildings also have a significant impact on their surroundings. We want to ensure that with high quality design requirements we enable distinctive landmark and taller buildings to be delivered in the right places across the city. Tell us what you think by answering the questions below.
