The Southampton City Vision consultation has now closed. We will share results in the coming weeks and there will be further opportunity to give us your views later in the year.

Cruise ship at the waterfront

In our previous consultation, you told us that you would like to have better access to the city's waterfront. We'd love to know more about this, so we can understand what improvements you’d like to see. You can tell us your thoughts by answering the two questions below.

You also told us that the city is not always easy to get around, especially for those with limited mobility. We want to make the city accessible to everyone, regardless of age, mobility or ability. To help us form the best possible plan, we'd like to know what you feel benefits access around the city and what currently makes it difficult to get around. You can use the interactive map below to highlight these area or facilities.

  • Share I moved from Wolverhampton to Southampton in 1999 and love living in this city. We have seen tremendous positive changes such as West Quay, Watermark West Quay, Guildhall Square etc. The one area we need to develop as a main attraction is our city waterfront. The current idea of the Spitfire monument is okay but what memorable experience are we bringing to the city? Portsmouth has Spinnaker tower and a better idea would have been to make the Spitfire monument a true 'high altitude' visual experience to beat Spinnaker tower, for all the UK to get wonderful Southampton aerial views from and learn about the Spitfire role with an interactive virtual simulator for children etc. This would have been a true landmark to put Southampton on the map and bring in significant tourism revenue and make us all proud to be in Southampton. on Facebook Share I moved from Wolverhampton to Southampton in 1999 and love living in this city. Thank you for your suggestions. We are aware of the desire of residents to have greater access to the waterfront, and this will be considered as we develop the plan and we will also share your comments with relevant colleagues.

  • Share We appreciate that Southampton is one of the few cities that has a true working dock, ferry/passenger sea port etc so understand the challenge in transforming Mayflower Park. However all the original plans published in CityVision to making a proper marina/waterfront harbour area for all to enjoy seems to have been forgotten. Looking at past photos, Southampton had a true waterfront with trains going along and we really need to recreate that environment along the Mayflower Park area. on Facebook Share We appreciate that Southampton is one of the few cities that has a true working dock, ferry/passenger sea port etc so understand the challenge in transforming Mayflower Park. Specific details about transport are set out in our transport plan 'Connected Southampton'. The City Vision and Connected Southampton will be aligned.
